Bears Fall In Series Finale At No. 6 Bruins

May 14, 2022

LOS ANGELES – California dropped the final game of the series to No. 6 UCLA, 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at Easton Stadium as the bats couldn't get going against the Bruins' strong pitching staff.

The Bears (28-27-1, 8-16 Pac-12) got two hits from Kennedy Thomas in the loss. The Bruins improved to 43-8 overall and 19-5 in Pac-12 play with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UCLA got on the board first with a pair of runs on three hits in the second to take a two-run lead into the third frame. The Bruins made it 4-0 in the third after a 2-run homer off the bat of Maya Brady.

It was 5-0 UCLA after the fifth as the home team added a run on two hits and Cal throwing error. Cal was able to get runners on base again, as it did throughout the weekend, but couldn't push anything across the plate, stranding five on the bases.
