Washington Outpaces USC Baseball, 16-11

LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team couldn't keep pace with Washington on Saturday afternoon at Dedeaux Field, falling 16-11 to the Huskies.
 
The Trojans fall to 24-24 overall and 8-18 in Pac-12 play, while Washington improves to 24-24 overall and 13-16 in conference action.
 
Washington opened up an early 6-0 lead and after three innings led 10-4. USC cut the deficit to two runs twice in the game, but was never able to overtake the Huskies.
 
Johnny Olmstead hit a three-run homer in the second to make it a 6-4 game, and Cole Gabrielson singled home a pair of runs in the fifth to make it 10-8.
 
Washington scored three runs in the top of the sixth and then got a three-run homer from Will Simpson in the seventh to pull away for good. Tyler Lozano homered in the ninth for USC to cap the scoring.
