Men's Golf Posts Solid First Round at NCAA Stockton Regional

May 16, 2022

NCAA men's golf regional play is all about just getting it done. Doesn't matter if you finish first or fifth, as long as not sixth or lower. A top-five finish gets you in the NCAA Championships, to be held again this year at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale

The Sun Devils had a great first round as they shot 9-under 279 with three players in the top-10 at the Stockton Regional Monday. ASU is just one shot back of Stanford for the top spot, but more importantly is eight shots clear of sixth place.

Freshman Josele Ballester led the way with a 4-under 68, which included two eagles and three straight birdies to start the tournament, with senior Cam Sisk not far behind at 3-under 69. Senior Mason Andersen shot 2-under 70.

Ballaster averaged 3.75 on the par-5 holes and was 5-under.
