Klingler Named Finalist for Player of the Year
SEATTLE – A week after being named Pac-12 Player of the Year, Baylee Klingler was tabbed one of three finalists for USA Softball Player of the Year, the organization announced on Wednesday.
This is the second consecutive year that the Huskies have had a Top 3 finalist after Gabbie Plain was honored last season. Klingler could join Danielle Lawrie as the only Huskies ever to be named national Player of the Year.
Klingler finished the regular season leading the conference in batting average (.433), home runs (22) and RBI (65). Her home runs and RBI ranks in the Top 5 in the national, while batting average is 15th. The senior also posts a .955 slugging percentage, which is second in the conference and fourth nationally.
The 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be announced on May 31 prior to the WCWS.
