Ducks Collect 58 Entries for West Prelims

May 19, 2022

EUGENE, Ore. – Fresh off sweeping the Pac-12 team titles, the University of Oregon track and field team is sending 58 entries to next week's NCAA West Preliminary. Official selections and national qualifiers in the combined events were posted Thursday.

The 2022 NCAA West Preliminary, first contested as a four-day meet last year, will take place May 25-28 at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Ducks' 58 entries—34 women, 24 men—are represented by 47 individuals and three relays. Oregon will have eight student-athletes competing in two events, not including relays. In addition to Thursday's announcement of prelim qualifiers, Max Vollmer secured his spot at the national meet in the decathlon.

Oregon's list of double qualifiers is Aaron Bienenfeld (5,000/10,000m), Elliott Cook (800/1500m), Mine De Klerk (shot put/discus), Jasmine Montgomery (100/200m), Jaida Ross (shot put/discus), Dominique Ruotolo (long jump/triple jump), Alexandra Webster (100H/400H) and Alessia Zarbo (5,000/10,000m).

To mirror the format of the national meet, the preliminary rounds will be contested over four days with alternating men's and women's programs. The NCAA East Preliminary will take place the same weekend in Bloomington, Ind. The top 12 in each event advance to the 2022 NCAA Championships (June 8-11) at Hayward Field in Eugene.
