Postseason Ready: Huskies Host Seattle Regional

SEATTLE – The 13-seed Washington Huskies are set to host the Seattle Regionals this weekend at Husky Softball Stadium.
The four-team, three-day event features Texas facing Weber State at 2:30 p.m. Friday on Longhorn Network before the Huskies take on Lehigh at 5 p.m. on ESPN+. All games this weekend will be shown on ESPN networks.

The Huskies have made the postseason the past 28 seasons. In each of the last six seasons, the Huskies have hosted a Regional. In postseason play in Seattle, the Dawgs are 67-3.
Baylee Klingler was named one of three finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award on Wednesday. The winner will be announced on May 31 prior to the WCWS in Oklahoma City.
The 2022 award season is in full swing and the Dawgs are finding their names on the lists:
Baylee Klingler – USA Softball Player of the Year finalist, Pac-12 Player of the Year, Pac-12 All-Defensive Team, First Team All-Pac-12, NFCA All-Pacific Region First Team
Gabbie Plain – All-Pac-12 First Team, NFCA All-Pacific Region First Team, Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year, CoSIDA Academic All-District Team
Madison Huskey – All-Pac-12 First Team, NFCA All-Pacific Region Second Team
Sami Reynolds – All-Pac-12 Second Team, NFCA All-Pacific Region Second Team
Olivia Johnson – Pac-12 All-Freshman Team, NFCA All-Pacific Region Second Team
Kinsey Fiedler – Pac-12 All-Freshman Team
Rylee Holtorf – Pac-12 All-Freshman Team
Selected by members of the USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Committee, Coach Heather Tarr will lead Team USA at the 2022 World Games, in addition to various international competitions throughout 2022.
The Husky freshman trio of Kinsey Fiedler, Olivia Johnson and Rylee Holtorf won the WBSC U-18 World Cup in December 2021 as part of USA Softball's U-18 Women's National Team. The three also won gold at the 2021 Junior Pan American Games, where the USA recorded a 10-0 run-rule victory over Mexico in the gold medal game.
Seniors Sami Reynolds and Baylee Klingler were named to the USA Softball roster for the 2022 Canada Cup, held in Surrey, B.C., June 20-26, and the Japan All-Star Series which will take place in Fukushima, Japan, Aug. 1-9. Earlier this year, Reynolds was named as an alternate for the 2022 USA Softball National Team that will compete at the 2022 World Games in July in Alabama.
Washington has compiled a tough schedule thus far with the 12th toughest schedule in the NCAA. In the first 50 games, the Huskies have faced 13 Top 25 opponents and hold a record of 16-10 against those teams.
The game on Friday will be the first time that UW and Lehigh have met.
The Huskies hold the overall record over Texas, 18-7. The two teams last met on Feb. 28, 2020 which Texas won, 8-6 in Fullerton, Calif.
Washington and Weber State have met twice before. UW holds the all-time record, 2-0 with the last meeting on May 20, 2016 in the NCAA Regionals.
