Levon Chalikyan Joins Men’s Gymnastics
BERKELEY – One month after a solid showing at the 2022 NCAA Championships, California men's gymnastics has announced the signing of all-arounder Levon Chalikyan to its roster. A native of Los Angeles, Chalikyan currently trains with Gymnastics Olympica USA in Santa Clarita, most recently placing 10th at the 2022 Junior National Championships.
"Levon is a very capable gymnast who excels on multiple events, particularly the rings," said head coach J.T. Okada. "He brings a strong foundation on all events, and we're really excited to have him on our squad – he comes from a strong gymnastics background. We're happy to welcome him now to the Cal gymnastics family."
Chalikyan made the California State All-Star Team each year from 2016-20, including stints on the All-Region 1 Team in 2018 and 2019. He finished second at the 2022 SoCal State Championships. In the 2021-22 season, Chalikyan posted season-highs of 13.050 on floor, 12.300 on pommel, 13.400 on rings, 14.000 on vault, 12.900 on parallel bars and 12.850 on high bar, as well as a high of 75.600 in the all-around contest.
He will join a Golden Bears squad that qualified seven individuals for the NCAA finals this past spring and finished ninth overall as a team.
