SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Oregon State's Carson Barry plays in the NCAA Championships starting Friday at the par-70, 7,289-yard Grayhawk Golf Course.
Barry was the top individual at the NCAA Bryan Regional last week, shooting a 3-under 213 to help force a playoff. He shot par in two consecutive rounds and is one of six golfers at the NCAA Championships competing as individuals.
Barry, who is averaging 71.97 strokes per round this season, is participating in his second NCAA Championship. He came to Scottsdale last year as the Beavers advanced as a team. Barry, who has said he is returning for a fifth season in 2022-23, shot a 4-over 284 at Grayhawk, finishing in a tie for 22nd.
"I'm really looking forward to participating again this year," Barry said. "Going to Grayhawk last year, I played well and have a lot of experience there. I am ready to compete for a national championship."
Barry is slated to get underway at approximately 8:40 a.m. PT on Friday.
Finals play consists of three days of stroke play on Friday, May 27 thru Sunday, May 29 (54 holes), after which the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will be determined.
