DeGenero Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

BOULDER – University of Colorado track and field senior Micaela DeGenero was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Seven First Team, the association announced Thursday afternoon.
 
The CoSIDA Academic All-America program is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes. All nominees must have a GPA of 3.30 or above and be a starter or important reserve in their respected sport.
 
DeGenero was the 2022 NCAA Mile National Champion and has a 3.90 GPA pursuing her Master's in Technology, Cybersecurity and Policy. She had a 3.69 GPA in her undergraduate program.
 
DeGenero earns her first CoSIDA Academic All-District selection with the Buffaloes after she earned her second All-American finish this indoor season. In 2021, DeGenero finished as an All-American in the outdoor 1,500-meter run and continued her season into the USATF Olympic Trials where she was a participant in the 1,500. DeGenero will compete in the 1,500-meter first round this evening at the NCAA West Preliminaries where she is a favorite to advance to the quarterfinals and ultimately to the NCAA finals in Eugene.
 
DeGenero will automatically be eligible to become an Academic All-American. The District 7 is composed of 12 women and 11 men from Division I schools in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas.
 
The 2022 Academic All-District Women's Track & Field / Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top
student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes track & field/cross country honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 21, 2022.
