Duo Competing in Bulgaria

VARNA, Bulgaria – Competing for the U.S. Men's Senior Development Team, Stanford's Jeremy Bischoff and Taylor Burkhart are making their senior international debuts this week, competing at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Varna, Bulgaria.

Burkhart is planning to compete on all six apparatus, while Bischoff will take on all but vault.

Qualifications for floor exercise, pommel horse and still rings were contested on Thursday, with qualifications for vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar to follow Friday at 7 a.m. ET.

The top eight gymnasts on each apparatus will advance to this weekend's finals. The floor final is set for Saturday at 6:30 a.m. ET. The pommel horse final will kick off around 8 a.m. ET, and the rings final will close out Saturday's competition slate beginning at 9:24 a.m. ET. The vault final will lead off Day 4 at 6:30 a.m. ET. The parallel bars champion will be crowned at 8 a.m. ET with the horizontal bar final set to wrap up competition from 9:24-10 a.m. ET.

Burkhart hit his floor routine and qualified through to the floor final in first place with a score of 14.100. Bischoff posted a score of 12.600 to finish 16th overall in the event.

On pommel horse, Burkhart debuted a new element, hoping to have it named after him and put into the code of points. The freshman hit his routine, posting a 13.250 and placing 10th - just shy of finals. Bischoff hit a newly upgraded routine, good for a score of 12.450 and 12th place. 

Both athletes hit their still rings routines, with Burkhart (13.550) and Bischoff (13.050) finishing 11th and 18th, respectively.
