No. 2 National Seed

May 30, 2022

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford will host an NCAA regional for the 20th time in program history, selected as the No. 2 national seed on Monday.

Stanford enters the NCAA Tournament carrying a top-eight national seed for the first time since being tabbed the No. 2 seed in 2018. Should the Cardinal advance through the regional round, Stanford would be in line to host a super regional with a spot in the College World Series at stake.

Stanford will welcome Texas State (45-12 Sun Belt), UC Santa Barbara (43-12, 27-3 Big West) and Binghamton (22-28, 15-15 America East) to Sunken Diamond. Stanford opens the tournament on Friday at 1 p.m. when it faces Binghamton. Texas State and UC Santa Barbara will play game two at 6 p.m.

The Cardinal enters the postseason carrying a 16-game win streak. Stanford is 41-14 overall and finished 21-9 in the Pac-12 to win the regular season conference title. Most recently, Stanford went 4-0 at the inaugural Pac-12 Baseball Tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz., winning the tournament title by way of a 9-5 victory over Oregon State on Sunday night to clinch the Pac-12's automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
