Klingler, Plain Named NFCA All-Americans

Jun 1, 2022

SEATTLE – UW softball's Baylee Klingler and Gabbie Plain were named All-Americans, the NFCA announced today. Klingler is a unanimous First Team selection, with Plain earning Second Team All-American honors.

This is the fourth consecutive year the Huskies have had multiple All-American honorees and the 20th time in 29 seasons that the award has been given out.

Klingler becomes the 18th Husky in program history to earn multiple All-American honors after being named Second Team last season. Klingler's honor at shortstop marks the fifth season in a row that a Husky has earned an All-American honor at shortstop. The reigning Pac-12 Player of the Year had an impressive 2022 campaign for the Huskies, leading the conference in batting average, RBI, hits and home runs at the conclusion of the regular season. Her 24 home runs are the second-most in a single season in program history. Klingler was also one of three finalists for the USA Softball Player of the Year award.

Plain joins an exclusive list of four-time All-Americans, becoming the second to do so in UW softball history, as well as the 40th in NCAA Division I and the 52nd in Washington Athletics history. The senior holds 10 spots on the UW Top 10 list and is one of two Husky pitchers to have multiple perfect games in her career. This season, Plain recorded nine shutouts, which was 10th in NCAA and second in the Pac-12. Over her five seasons in the Purple and Gold, Plain posted a 1.52 ERA with 108 wins and 1068 strikeouts.
