CORVALLIS – Oregon State superstar Mariah Mazon has been named an to the NFCA All-America Third Team and the D1 Softball First Team, both of which were announced on Wednesday.
This is the second All-America honor for Mazon, who was also tabbed to the Softball America All-America team in 2020. The pitcher was one of three Beavers to earn NFCA First Team All-Region honors earlier this month and was an All-Pac-12 selection for the fourth time.
A threat both in the circle and in the batters' box, Mazon set the Oregon State career strikeouts record Friday at Stanford in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament, surpassing OSU legend Brianne McGowan in the record books. The record holder now has 861 strikeouts and counting. Mazon has amassed 17 wins and three saves in 35 appearances this season, and has 220 strikeouts on the campaign – the fifth-best total in program history. She has a stellar 2.18 ERA over the course of the postseason, and allowed just one earned run in nine and two-thirds innings of work during last weekend's Super Regional.
At the plate, Mazon is hitting .366 on the season and slugging .786. She has 12 homers on the year to go with a team-high 40 RBI and 31 runs scored. She has three home runs and eight RBI in Oregon State's seven postseason games.
OSU is headed to the Women's College World Series this week for the second time in program history and the first time since the 2006 campaign. The Beavers will open their run in Oklahoma City on Thursday when they face Florida at 4 p.m. PT.
Oregon State advanced to the WCWS by virtue of sweeping the first two games of a three-game series vs. Stanford in the Super Regional round this weekend. The Beavers advanced to Supers by winning the Knoxville Regional.
