ACWPC All-America Honors Go To Six USC Women’s Water Polo Players for 2022

Jun 2, 2022

USC women's water polo boasts a six-pack of Trojans on the All-America honor roll as presented by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches. Olympians Paige Hauschild and Tilly Kearns lead the way with First Team All-America status — Hauschild's first such honor and Kearns' first All-America award. Bayley Weber, meanwhile, now is a three-time pick to the All-America Second Team, and Carolyne Stern has landed her first All-American honor with the junior goalie's selection to the Third Team. Two more three-time honorees — Mireia Guiral and Grace Tehaney — have picked up All-America Honorable Mention for their work in helping the Trojans reach the 2022 NCAA final. All six Trojans are set to return to action for USC next season.

USC's top scorer with 64 goals in 2022, Tilly Kearns made her mark in many ways in her return to the pool with the Trojans. Two years removed from her freshman season at USC, the Australian Olympian has earned debuts on several honor rolls this season — a finalist for the Peter J. Cutino Award, First Team All-America honors and a spot on the All-MPSF First Team. She's rightfully joined on the All-America First Team by fellow Olympian Paige Hauschild, who was also an All-MPSF First Team pick while scoring 47 goals for USC in her return from her work with Team USA. Now with 164 goals scored in three seasons of work, Hauschild ranks No. 13 all-time in career scoring at USCs with 164 goals.

USC's second leading scorer in 2022, Bayley Weber flexed serious defensive muscle as well for the Trojans as she has locked up her third straight selection to the All-America Second Team. Also an All-MPSF Second Team pick, Weber scored 53 goals in her fourth season as a Trojan to help climb to No. 18 all-time in career scoring with 143 goals.

Another Trojan climbing the career boards is goalie Carolyne Stern, who has earned the first major athletic accolades of her USC career with this 2022 All-America Third Team pick. An MPSF Player of the Week, Stern steered the Trojans to a successful season in averaging 7.4 saves per game while making a career-high 13 stops in the NCAA final. Her career saves total now stands at 164 to hold her at No. 9 on USC's all-time goalie saves ladder.

USC's All-America Honorable Mention recipients are another example of the versatility on the Trojan roster. Two-meter player Mireia Guiral and lefty Grace Tehaney combined for 72 goals in 2022, with both getting to the 100-goal mark in their USC careers. Guiral's two goals in the NCAA final bumped her up to an even 100, while Tehaney crossed that bridge earlier in the season to now grip 123 career goals as a Trojan. Both also earned All-MPSF Honorable Mention this season, with this year's All-America award marking Guiral's third Honorable Mention. Tehaney was a Third Team pick in 2020 and has now added two sets of Honorable Mention to her name.
