Arizona Falls to Cowgirls in Game One of WCWS

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Arizona (38-21) lost 4-2 to Oklahoma State (47-12) in the opening round of the Women's College World Series. The Wildcats scored two runs on five hits and played in front of 12,320 fans – the largest session two attendance in WCWS history.
 
Jasmine Perezchica was the only Wildcat with two hits and Allie Skaggs went 1-for-2 with two walks. Sharlize Palacios had one home run and drove in two runs.
 
The first three innings were scoreless until Oklahoma State scored one run in the fourth on an RBI single.
 
In the fifth, Palacios hit a two-run home run – her 20th homer of the season – to give Arizona the lead.
 
The Cowgirls had the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the fifth, but Bowen was able to work her way out of the jam with a fly out to left field. Oklahoma State regained the lead on a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth.  
 
Bowen (13-11) was the losing pitcher, striking out only two Cowgirls and walking four. Devyn Netz entered in relief for one inning and struck out one batter.

Arizona will face Oregon State on Friday at 8:30 p.m. MST in the elimination game of the WCWS.
