LOS ANGELES – The USC lacrosse team heads Down Under for a 12-day Australian tour this week. Fresh off the program's fifth appearance in the NCAA tournament, the Women of Troy will arrive in Sydney on Monday, June 6, and spend three days in the capital of New South Wales for sightseeing and cultural experiences.
From there, the Trojans head to the southern coast for nine days in Melbourne, the capital of Victoria. USC will play several intrasquad scrimmages while on its foreign tour but will also face national teams from Australia and New Zealand in exhibition games.
The Trojans meet New Zealand for games on June 11 (1 p.m.) and June 12 (11 a.m.) at the Footscray Lacrosse Club at the Angliss Reserve. USC and Australia are set to meet three times on June 14, 15, and 16, at the Angliss Reserve.
This is the first foreign tour for the USC lacrosse program, which had its inaugural season in 2013.
In 2022, the Women of Troy (13-5) received one of 14 at-large berths into the NCAA tournament and made their fifth appearance in the national tourney. USC tied for first place in the final Pac-12 regular-season standings with an 8-2 conference record. 10th-year head coach Lindsey Munday (123-54, .695) led the Trojans to three three-game win streaks and one four-game win streak en route to the program's fifth highest single-season win total. Graduate midfielder and captain Kelsey Huff became the program's sixth IWLCA All-American and collected a ninth All-America certificate for the Women of Troy. Huff was named the Pac-12's Midfielder of the Year for the second time and Olivia Dooley was chosen as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year.
