Oregon State V8 Places 19th Overall as Beavers End Season at IRA Championships
MERCER LAKE, N.J. – The Beaver Varsity eight won the fourth final to finish 19th overall the IRA Championships in New Jersey, as the Oregon State men's rowing team wrapped up its season on Sunday.
"2022 was good," said Oregon State head coach Gabe Winkler. "This group of guys is really fun to be with. The placing is not where we wanted to end up, but it was still a solid showing. Only two guys from this squad are graduating, so next year's squad is deep right from the start. I'm proud of them and training starts immediately for the next campaign."
The Oregon State Varsity 8 clocked in with a time of 6:08.0 in Sunday's level 4 final, topping second-place Colgate by 1.4 seconds.
The Beaver JV8 nearly took the top spot in its own fourth-level final, clocking in at 6:18.4, second to Santa Clara by less than half a second. That OSU boat claimed 20th place overall at the 2V8 level.
Oregon State's 3V8 took the third spot in its third-level final, placing it 15th overall at the event.
The Beavers have competed in every IRA Championship since 2013.
