Arizona's Season Ends in Coral Gables Regional Final

Jun 6, 2022

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Arizona Wildcats (39-25) ended their season with a loss to the Ole Miss Rebels (35-22) in the NCAA Coral Gables Regional Finals on Monday evening.

Arizona wrapped up the first year of the head coach Chip Hale era with 39 wins, a winning Pac-12 Conference record, and the program's 41st NCAA Tournament appearance, sixth most in the nation.

"I'm so proud of this club, all year obviously, played their hearts out and stuck together through some tough times, and they left it out there," Hale said. "That's all we asked these last couple days, just do the best you can."

Catcher Daniel Susac collected a pair of hits in the loss, making him only the 10th player in program history to notch a 100-hit season. The draft-eligible sophomore likely ends his Arizona career with a .351 career batting average, 98 runs scored, 70 extra-base hits, and 126 RBI.

"I think the second-best decision I ever made was going to Arizona, but I think the best one was staying here," Susac said. "I don't think the program could be in better hands, I think the coaching staff and the players all understand it and they get it."
