Lomavita started all 55 games he played in during the 2022 season, primarily as Cal's designated hitter as well as a backup catcher. The Ewa Beach, Hawaii, native slashed .272/.345/.414 with 10 doubles, seven home runs and 46 runs batted in on the way to becoming the first Golden Bear to earn a spot on the All-Pac-12 First Team since Andrew Vaughn in 2017. He was one of six true freshmen named to the all-conference squad.
Lomavita stole a team-leading 15 bases in 17 attempts and was one of just five Pac-12 players with at least seven home runs and 15 swipes this season. His bat was a pivotal piece in Cal's late-season push toward the Pac-12 Tournament, as he batted .300 (33-for-110) with at least one hit in 22 of the team's final 28 games and ended the campaign with a 13-game reached base streak.
Lomavita is the fifth Cal player to earn freshman All-America honors under head coach Mike Neu, joining Joseph King (2020), Dylan Beavers (2021), Paulshawn Pasqualotto (2021) and Josh White (2021).
