SALT LAKE CITY – The Spring semester academic performance by Utah's student-athletes continues a record-setting trend that has seen some of the highest achievement recorded across all of Utah's 20 sport programs. This spring, the Utes posted a combined 3.30 semester grade point average, extending the school-record streak of semester GPAs of 3.0 or better to 32 consecutive semesters.
The 3.30 semester GPA is the seventh-highest on record for Utah, and follows a stretch of four consecutive semesters in which Utah's student-athletes recorded the four highest semester GPAs in department history. That stretch included a school-record 3.573 in Spring 2020.
For the fifth consecutive semester and the fifth time overall, every sport program earned a team semester GPA over 3.00. The women's tennis team earned the highest team semester GPA of all sports with a 3.863. The men's side was led by the ski team, which earned a 3.438.
"The University of Utah is a world-class institution, and our student-athletes continue to excel academically while competing at the highest levels of intercollegiate athletics," said Mark Harlan, Director of Athletics. "We are incredibly proud of the way they represent the U in the community, the commitment they make to academic excellence, and their relentless pursuit of championships in competition."
For the full 2021-22 school year, Utah's student-athletes recorded a combined 3.315 GPA, just shy of the record 3.407 set last year. Highlighting that performance was 38 percent of Utah's student-athletes making the Dean's List (3.50 or better) while maintaining 12 hours full-time enrollment; 75 percent on the A.D.'s Honor Roll (3.0+) and 11 percent earning perfect 4.0 semester GPAs.
