USC's Jasmine Jones Runs Personal Best To Take 2nd In 100m Hurdles At NCAA Track & Field Championships

Jun 11, 2022

Jasmine Jones posted a personal best in the 100m hurdles to take second during the final day of action at the 2022 NCAA Women's Track & Field Outdoor Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. today (June 11).  USC finished with eight points, tied for 30th in the team standings.

  • Jones took second in the women's 100m hurdles with another PR of 12.66 (-0.2) to better her fourth-place standing on USC's all-time list in the event.  Jones became a first-team All-American in the hurdles and earned the Trojans their eight points in the team competition.  Jones' previous best of 12.72 was run on Thursday in the semifinals, when she moved from sixth to fourth on USC's all-time list.  It is the 20th time a Trojan earned All-America status in the 100m hurdles, the fourth in the last three meets.  USC has had a women's 100m hurdler finish in the top two in the event at three-straight NCAA Championships (Chanel Brissett -2019, 2nd & Anna Cockrell – 2021, 1st).

"Being the last one to race for our team this week, it really just meant a lot to bring the trophy home, bring the gold home, bring whatever I could home, just leave it on the track and do the best I could, which I did," said Jones.  I feel really blessed to have made it to the end of this race honestly, and to place second is honestly a dream come true."

Jones was the USC women's team's only first team All-American, but the Trojan women earned 13 more All-America designations.  USC women earning second-team All-America honors were: Celera Barnes (100m, 4x100m), Kimberly Harris (4x400m), Jones (4x100m, 4x400m), Bailey Lear (4x400m), Joy McArthur (HT), Samirah Moody (4x100), Chioma Okonkwo (4x100m, 4x400m) and Jalaysiya Smith (100 H)..  Also, earning honorable mention were Jan'Taijah Ford (400m) and Lear (400m).
