Cal Women’s Soccer Announces 2022 Schedule

Jun 15, 2022

BERKELEY – Cal women's soccer coach Neil McGuire announced the 2022 schedule on Wednesday. The Bears will play a 20-game slate featuring nine home games and nine contests on the Pac-12 Family of Networks.

The Bears return 31 players from last year's young roster that allowed less than a goal per game. With two games cancelled last season, Cal only played 18 contests, but will face 16 of the same opponents again in 2022. Cal's new opponents will be Pepperdine, Cal State Fullerton, UNLV and Penn.

The Bears will play four doubleheaders with the Cal men's soccer program, with those scheduled to take place on August 28, September 18, October 27 and October 30. Cal will also face six opponents who were ranked or receiving votes in the final United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll.

"We look forward to testing ourselves against many great opponents this fall," McGuire said. "Knowing the quality of our conference, it is important to make sure we are battle-tested and each team we will face will challenge us in different ways."

The Bears will open the season on Thursday, August 18 on the road against UC Irvine, one of nine non-conference contests before the Bears begin Pac-12 play. Cal will also compete against Saint Mary's (CA) on the road before the home opener on Sunday, August 28. Cal will host UC San Diego at 4 p.m. at Edwards Stadium with the game broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.

Cal opens September with a trip across the Bay Bridge to take on USF on September 1. Then Cal will return home for a matchup with Pepperdine on September 4. The Bears will hit the road for three straight road contests as they play on September 8, 11 and 15 against Cal State Fullerton, Santa Clara and UNLV, respectively. The Bears will conclude non-conference play on Sunday, September 18 with a home match against Penn on the Pac-12 Network.

Cal will open conference play with three straight road games, starting with a trip to UCLA on Friday, September 23 for a match on the Pac-12 Network. Cal will follow that with a trip to Arizona for a matchup with the Wildcats on September 29 and an October 2 matchup against Arizona State on October 2 on Pac-12 Arizona.

Cal plays three straight Pac-12 Conference home games as they host Washington State on October 6 and Washington on October 9 before an October 14 matchup against USC on Pac-12 Bay Area and Pac-12 Los Angeles.

The final road trip of the year will see the Bears head to Oregon for matchups against Oregon State on October 20 and Oregon on October 23. The game against the Ducks will be broadcast on Pac-12 Oregon.

Cal will finish the regular season with three straight home games, all of which will be televised on the Pac-12 family of networks. Cal will take on Colorado on October 27 and Utah on October 30 before the season finale against Stanford on Friday, November 4.

The NCAA Tournament will begin November 11 with first round matchups at school locations and will continue through the College Cup Final on December 4 in Cary, North Carolina.
