AUSTIN, Texas – Cal lacrosse student-athlete Nikki Zaccaro has been named to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Women's At-Large second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America®.
Zaccaro is one of 48 student-athletes across the country to be voted onto the 2022 COSIDA Academic All-America® first, second and third teams, as well the first Cal lacrosse player to ever earn the prestigious honor that recognizes top student-athletes for their combined performances in their athletic endeavors and the classroom. Among the criteria to be nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors are a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher, being a starter or significant substitute who has appeared in at least half of the team's competitions, and for undergraduates, being at your school for at least one calendar year.
"I am extremely proud to be recognized as an Academic All-American," Zaccaro said. "It is rewarding to see years of hard work on the field and in the classroom pay off. To be the first Cal lacrosse student-athlete recognized is a major honor, and I hope to inspire the following years of lacrosse athletes to continue the Cal Athletics tradition to strive for success in all aspects of their college careers.

Nikki Zaccaro – Lacrosse, Attack, 5th-Yr, 5th Season At Cal (Newtown, CT/Lauralton Hall HS)
— A double major (political science, film and media studies) who finished her undergraduate work at Cal in May of 2021 with Distinction in General Scholarship (equivalent to cum laude) before receiving a graduate certificate from the Berkeley Haas Global Access Program in May of 2022
— Posted a 3.86 undergrad grade-point average and had a 3.53 GPA in her graduate certificate program
— Selected as the Pac-12 Lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Year as a fifth-year senior in 2022 after being nominated for the award in her first of two senior campaigns in 2021
— Honored academically by the Pac-12 each season from 2019-21 with spots on the conference's Spring Academic Honor in 2020 and 2021 after it replaced the league's All-Academic squads which she was a first-team member of in 2019 (2022 Spring Academic Honor Roll has yet to be announced)
— A two-time recipient of CoSIDA Academic All-District® 8 honors in 2020 and 2022
— Cal's all-time career leader in games played (79) and assists (93)
