Oregon State Golf Teams Earn NCAA APR Public Recognition Award

Jun 15, 2022

CORVALLIS, Ore. The Oregon State men's and women's golf teams earned a Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Award from the NCAA.

The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.

The Oregon State men's and women's golf teams had a perfect 1,000 score during those four academic years. This is the third perfect score for the men's golf team and the second for the women's golf program.

The APR is calculated as follows:

  • Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible.
  • A team's total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team's Academic Progress Rate.
  • In addition to a team's current-year APR, its rolling four-year APR is also used to determine accountability.

This is the 13th time an Oregon State team has earned an NCAA Public Recognition Award. Other programs to receive the prestigious recognition are women's cross country (2005-06, 2006-07), women's track (2005-06, 2006-07, 2009-10), women's golf (2008-09), men's golf (2012-13, 2019-20) and women's basketball (2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17),
