USC Beach Volleyball Senior Mollie Ebertin Named CoSIDA Academic All-American
AUSTIN, Texas – USC beach volleyball senior Mollie Ebertin (Saratoga, Calif./Saint Francis HS) was voted to the 2021-22 CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Division I Academic All-America Women's At-Large First Team on Wednesday, June 15. It is the 41st all-time CoSIDA Academic All-America first-team certificate earned by a USC athlete.
In May, Ebertin was chosen to the CoSIDA NCAA Academic All-District 8 Team, which includes athletes from the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, and the entire country of Canada. Her All-America selection makes her one of just 48 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and puts her in an elite group of 15 first-team choices. Ebertin is one of two beach volleyball athletes to be chosen for at-large honors and the only one to be named to the first team.
Ebertin is the third USC beach athlete to be chosen for at-large Academic All-America honors and joins Nicolette Martin (2017) and Nicole Nourse (2021) who were each chosen for CoSIDA Academic All-America third-team laurels.
Ebertin is a two-time NCAA champion with the Women of Troy (2021, '22) and has won two Pac-12 titles (2019, '22). She received the AVCA's Top Flight award as part of the No. 5 pair with Sunny Villapando and went 25-6 overall (20-5 with Villapando) to conclude her career at USC with 49 victories. Ebertin was named the valedictorian of her Master of Marketing program at USC's Marshall School of Business and earned USC's Stevens' Scholar and David X. Marks Scholar-Athlete honors.
Under third-year head coach Dain Blanton, the Trojans captured their fourth NCAA Championship (fifth national title) and fourth Pac-12 crowns in 2022. The Women of Troy finished the year ranked No. 1 and had a record of 37-1 with a 36-match win streak intact at the end. USC added four AVCA All-Americans to its history books with the four-time selection of Tina Graudina as well as the third-career honor for Sammy Slater. Graudina was named the Pac-12's Player of the Year a third time and earned Pac-12 and AVCA Pair of the Year honors with partner Hailey Harward, who was also tabbed an AVCA All-American along with sophomore Megan Kraft.
