Utah Soccer Announces 2022 Schedule
SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah soccer team is set to return to the pitch this fall with an exhibition contest against Idaho State on Wednesday, Aug. 10, before opening its regular season eight days later against Portland. In his second season at the helm, Hideki Nakada will lead his squad against six 2021 NCAA Tournament teams and have ten matches televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
The Utes will play 12 matches at Ute Field.
"There's so much to be excited about our fall schedule," remarked Nakada. "I am delighted for our fans to watch us host 12 exciting matches at home here in Salt Lake City. We've been working hard since our journey began 11 months ago, and I could not be happier with the team we were able to put together for this fall, and I can't wait for our fans to come watch us play."
Nakada and the Utes will open the season with an exhibition contest on Wednesday, Aug. 10, when Idaho State comes to town for a 7 p.m. kick. Utah's regular-season opener is set for Thursday, Aug. 18, when they travel to Portland, Ore., to face the Pilots of the University of Portland.
Utah opens its home slate on Sunday, Aug. 21, when they host Colorado State. The contest against Colorado State will be the first of a six-match homestand. Utah will host Denver on Aug. 25, Illinois State on Aug. 28, and Cal State Fullerton on Sept. 1 during the homestand.
The homestand concludes with matches against SEC foe Alabama on Sunday, Sept. 4, and Utah State on Sunday, Sept. 11.
Non-conference play wraps up with in-state rival BYU on Saturday, Sept. 17, in Provo.
The gauntlet of the Pac-12 Conference play begins at home against the Arizona Wildcats. The Wildcats and Utes will take to Ute Field on Friday, Sept. 23, to open the conference season. Utah will then travel to Washington (Sept. 29) and Washington State (Oct. 2) for the first road Pac-12 match-ups.
Following the two-match road swing, the Utes return to Ute Field for four of the next five matches. Utah will host Oregon (Oct. 6) and Oregon State (Oct. 9) before heading to the desert for a match against Arizona State on Friday, Oct. 14. After the game against the Sun Devils, Utah returns home to face USC (Oct. 20) and UCLA (Oct. 23).
The Utes close out the regular season with three straight road matches, starting on Thursday, Oct. 27, in Palo Alto, Calif., against Stanford. The Utes will follow with the short trip to Berkeley, Calif., to face California on Sunday, Oct. 30. The final game of the regular season is slated for Friday, Nov. 4, at Colorado.
