Jun 23, 2022

Celera Barnes with the second-fastest time in USC history in the women's 100m and Johnnie Blockburger in the men's 400m highlight a group of nine Trojans advancing to event semifinals at the 2022 USATF Outdoor Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. today (June 23).  The USATF Outdoor Championships run June 23-26.  Today was also the first day of the 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships which are also being held at Hayward Field from June 23-25.  USC did not have anyone competing in the U20 Championships today, but will have several athletes competing over the next few days.

The Trojans will have more than a dozen current and former athletes competing at the USATF Outdoor Championships.    An athlete who finishes in the top three of an event and meets the qualifying standards will make Team USA which will compete at the 2022 World Athletics Outdoor Championships also held in Eugene, Ore. from July 15-24.  At the USATF U20 Championships, an individual needs to place in the top two finishers to qualify for the USA U20 Team which will compete at the U20 Championships to be held in Cali, Colombia from Aug. 1-6.
