30 Named CRCA Scholar-Athletes

Jun 24, 2022

STANFORD, Calif. – The Collegiate Rowing Coaches of America (CRCA) announced 30 Stanford rowers have been named National Scholar-Athletes, excelling both on the water and in the classroom. A program-record 19 members of the women's rowing team and 11 Cardinal lightweight rowers earned the honor, announced by the coaches association Friday.

In order to qualify for the honor, athletes needed to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher, be of at least sophomore standing academically, and row in an NCAA or IRA boat for a minimum of 75 percent of the season's races.

Stanford women's rowing finished second at the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season, led by silver-medal finishes by the Cardinal's varsity eight and second varsity eight boats.

The Cardinal women's lightweight program finished tied-for-fourth at the IRA Championships, led by a third-place finish for Stanford in the varsity 8+ and a fifth-place result for the Cardinal in the varsity 4+ race.
