Plourde Finishes Sixth at Canadian Championships

Jun 26, 2022

TOWNSHIP OF LANGLEY, B.C. – Utah cross country and track & field sophomore Simone Plourde placed sixth in the 1500m finals on Sunday at the Canadian Championships to close out her season at McLeod Athletics Park.

Plourde crossed the finish line with a time of 4:20.37 against some of the top veteran runners in Canada.

"Excellent racing by Simone today to finish sixth," head coach Kyle Kepler said post race. "She was patient and confident in a tactical race. She continues to learn and grow in championship meets and this is another great step forward. To run a lifetime best in the semifinal and then race like that 28 hours later is outstanding."

Her time is the seventh fastest by any Ute this season in the 1500m race with Plourde running six of those times.
