Jun 28, 2022

LOS ANGELES – The Shelly Carlin UCLA Head Softball Coach Kelly Inouye-Perez has announced the addition of left-handed pitcher Brooke Yanez to the roster. Yanez has one year of eligibility remaining.

"We are excited to have Brooke join our Bruin Family!" Inouye-Perez said. "We know Brooke is a fierce competitor in the circle, and with her experience, she will add to our pitching staff and help us in our goal to get back to the Women's College World Series stage."

Yanez, a native of Ventura, Calif., comes to UCLA after two years at Oregon where she was an NFCA Third Team All-American and Pac-12 First Team honoree in 2021. That season, Yanez posted a 22-6 record, including seven shutouts and 14 complete games, with a 2.11 earned run average and 268 strikeouts over 182.1 innings of work. Her 268 strikeouts ranked second in the Pac-12 as well as third most in a single season in Ducks history.

She missed the entirety of the 2022 season due to injury.

Yanez opened 2020 with a 9-1 record and 1.56 ERA before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Yanez was a standout for UC Davis from 2018-2019 prior to transferring to Oregon. She was honored as the Big West Pitcher of the Year her sophomore year in 2019, boasting a 25-7 record and ranking fourth in the nation with a 1.03 ERA and seventh with 273 punchouts.
