Cadwell, Chu and Habgood Earn WGCA All-American Scholar Honors

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Washington State women's golf team had three student-athletes recognized for their academic excellence by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Tuesday, July 7, as seniors Amy Chu and Darcy Habgood and freshman Emily Cadwell were named WGCA All-American Scholars.

A total of 1,485 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

For Chu, it is her fourth-consecutive WGCA All-American Scholar selection after earning the honor in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The Sydney, Australia native competed in six tournaments for the Cougars during the 2021-22 season. Chu posted her best finish of the season at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic, where she finished tied for sixth after carding 2-under 144 in the 36-hole tournament. She shot a season-best 3-under 69 in the third round of the Fresno State Classic. Chu is a marketing major and holds a cumulative 3.77 GPA.

Habgood is a first-time WGCA All-American Scholar honoree. The Nambucca Heads, Australia, who is a Public Relations major, holds a cumulative GPA of 3.68. The senior played in all nine tournaments for WSU this past season and led the Cougars in scoring average at 74.58 through 26 rounds of play. She posted four top-25 finishes and one top-10 finish during the 2021-22 season, with her best finish of the season coming at the 2022 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championships, where she tied for ninth overall. Habgood shot a season-best 220 (+4) twice, first at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate, then again at the 2022 Pac-12 Championships.

It is also the first WGCA All-American selection for Cadwell. The freshman from Boise, Idaho appeared in six tournaments during her first season with WSU. She posted her best finish of the season at the Badger Invitational, where she tied for 14th after carding a career-best 221 (+5). Cadwell is a marketing major and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.64.
