Jul 13, 2022

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah men's basketball non-conference schedule continues to build out with the Runnin' Utes playing host to St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 26, inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center. That game will be the first meeting all-time between the two programs.
St. Thomas, who has been a powerhouse at the Division III level, enters its second season as a Division I transitional team as a member of the Summit League. The Tommies went 10-20 in their first season at the DI level with a 4-14 record in Summit League action. They picked up their first win at the Division I level on the road against St. Francis (NEC) 91-73 and recorded their first conference win over Omaha on the road 80-73.
Head coach Johnny Tauer enters his 12th season at the helm of his alma mater where he was an All-MIAC, all-west region and academic All-American. As a senior with the Tommies, Tauer guided St. Thomas to a school-record 27-0 start in 1994-95 to go along with a MIAC Championship – including a perfect 20-0 record in league play. He also helped lead St. Thomas to a Division III Final Four berth his junior season and currently sits at No. 14 all-time in career points (1,219) and career rebounds (482).
