Allyson Felix Earns Bronze Medal In Mixed 4x400m Relay At World Athletics Championships

Allyson Felix won a bronze medal with the USA women's mixed 4x400m relay to extend her record-setting World Championships medals won total to 19 and Aaron Brown and Andre De Grasse advanced to the men's the 100m semifinal and Nick Ponzio advanced to the men's shot put final during the first day of the 2022 World Athletics Championships held in Eugene, Ore. today (July 15).

  • Allyson Felix (USC, 2008) ran the second leg for USA's mixed 4x400m relay team which placed third to earn a bronze medal with a time of 3:10.16.  For Felix, it was her 19th career medal won at the World Championships, extending her all-time lead among all athletes.
  • Andre De Grasse (USC, 2015) and Aaron Brown (USC, 2014), representing their native Canada, automatically advanced to the men's 100m dash semifinals tomorrow as Brown took third in his opening round heat with a season-best time of 10.06 and De Grasse placed second in his heat with a time of 10.12.  They advanced to the semifinals with the 13th and 19th qualifying times respectively.
  • Nick Ponzio (USC, 2018) was second in Group B and fourth overall with a mark of 70-0.50 (21.35m) in the men's shot put to advance to the final on Sunday, July 17. Ponzio is representing Italy.
