Liberty Ricca Wins U23 National Championships in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Sun Devil star Liberty Ricca represented the United States on Sunday morning for the Americas Triathlon Cup U23 National Championships at Alamitos Beach, placing first in the U23 group and 11th in the women's category with a 01:01:38 finish. 

Ricca dominated the swim, finishing the section in 10:02, just four seconds behind the first person out of the water.

The 2021 Freshman of the Year, Alexe Coursol finished 14th overall in 01:01:51 under Team Canada. 

Sophomores Camille Buchanan (01:05:42) and Evan Welch (01:06:33) completed the event 35th and 37th, respectively. Buchanan was just short of the podium in the U23 race as she placed fourth in the National Championships.

Freshman Faith Dasso (USA) did not finish the race but swam in 00:10:24.

The Sun Devils will participate in their first collegiate event September 23-25th at America's Cup in Hurricane, Utah.
