Ducks’ Work in the Classroom Pays Off
EUGENE, Ore. – For a second-consecutive season, the Oregon volleyball team has earned USMC/AVCA Team Academic accolades. The list of award winners was released Monday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
The honor was first awarded in the 1992-93 academic year and recognizes teams that, in Oregon's case, maintain a year-long grade-point average (GPA) of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
The Ducks posted a 3.32 team GPA during the 2021-22 academic campaign. Overall, this is the program's seventh Team Academic Award.
Oregon capped an unprecedented 2021 calendar year with a 22-9 record during the fall season, and the team's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Matt Ulmer. The Ducks' season featured five wins over ranked teams, including the program's first-ever season sweep of Stanford and a sweep of Penn State in Eugene during the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge.
The Ducks' 2022 season begins Aug. 27 against Long Beach State, a neutral-site match in Portland. The home opener is set for Sept. 1 against UC Davis with a 6 p.m. first serve at Matthew Knight Arena.
