Three Ducks Selected on Second Day of MLB Draft

Jul 18, 2022

EUGENE, Ore. – For the second straight season, three Ducks were selected on the second day of the MLB Draft with Anthony Hall, Brennan Milone and Adam Maier coming off the board between rounds four and seven.

Combined with the selection of Josh Kasevich in the second round, the trio of day-two Ducks give Oregon four MLB Draft picks in the first ten rounds, the most since 2011. The Ducks also had two position players taken in the first five rounds of the draft for the first time in the modern era.

Hall was Oregon's first selection of the day, going to the Yankees in the fourth round at pick 130. He is the second-highest drafted outfielder of the modern era behind Aaron Zavala, who was picked by the Texas Rangers in the second round last season.

Milone was the second Duck to go off the board when he was chosen by the Oakland A's in the sixth round at pick 184. His selection marked the first time that three Duck position players were picked in the first six rounds of the MLB Draft.

Maier was the first Oregon pitcher selected when the Braves made him pick 215 in the seventh round. The sophomore from Vancouver, B.C. was the second Duck in the modern era to be picked by Atlanta and UO's 19th pitcher selected in the first ten rounds of the draft.

The MLB Draft resumes on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with rounds 11-20.
