USC's Aaron Brown, Tynia Gaither Advance To 200m Semifinals At World Athletics Championships

Aaron Brown in the men's 200m and Tynia Gaither in the women's 200m both advanced to semifinals during the fourth day of the 2022 World Athletics Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. today (July 18).

  • Aaron Brown (USC, 2014) took second in his men's 200m heat with a time of 20.60 (+0.0) to automatically advance to the event semifinal tomorrow. He regrouped nicely after his blocks slipped and they had to restart his heat.   Andre De Grasse (USC, 2015) withdrew from the 200m competition as he continues to recover from COVID-19, and remains hopeful to compete in the 4x100m for Canada.
  • Tynia Gaither USC, 2016) took third in her women's 200m heat with a time of 22.61 (+0.4) to automatically advance to the semifinals tomorrow.

Trojans scheduled to be in action tomorrow include: Rai Benjamin (M-400m H final), Aaron Brown (M-200m semifinal), Tynia Gaither (W-200m semifinal), Amalie Iuel (W-400m H heats), Dalilah Muhammad (W-400m H heats)
