Softball Adds Iowa State Transfer Kaylee Pond

Jul 20, 2022

BERKELEY -- California softball head coach Chelsea Spencer announced the addition of infielder Kaylee Pond to the roster for the 2023 season on Wednesday.

Pond, a transfer from Iowa State, has three years of eligibility remaining after completing her redshirt freshman season with the Cyclones in 2022.

"Kaylee is an exciting player who has the passion to be the best on the field," Spencer said. "She is a Bay Area native who will wear the Blue and Gold with the utmost pride. Kaylee comes to us from a competitive conference with three WCWS participants last year and will provide speed and help at multiple positions defensively."

The Martinez, California native was named to the 2022 Big 12 All-Freshman Team last season after playing in 52 of 55 games while hitting .248 with eight doubles, two triples and two home runs. Pond collected 15 RBI and scored 22 runs, while drawing 29 walks, the sixth-most in the Big 12.

Pond recorded eight multi-hit games and logged a season-high three hits against Howard. She was one of seven players in the Big 12 with a 4.0 GPA during the year and was named to both the Academic All-Big 12 First Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.
