LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's basketball team will take on Kentucky, and North Carolina will face Ohio State in the annual CBS Sports Classic on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022. The nationally-televised doubleheader will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

North Carolina and Ohio State will tip-off the opening game at approximately 12 p.m. PT (3 p.m. ET), while UCLA's showdown with Kentucky will follow at approximately 2:30 p.m. PT (5:30 p.m. ET). The two games will be broadcast on The CBS Television Network and available to stream live on Paramount+.

This set of matchups – UCLA and Kentucky, along with North Carolina and Ohio State – was last featured in the CBS Sports Classic on Dec. 23, 2017, when North Carolina defeated Ohio State, 86-72, and UCLA knocked off Kentucky, 83-75. The Bruins have won three of their last four meetings against Kentucky. The most recent meeting between UCLA and Kentucky took place on Dec. 23, 2017, at the CBS Sports Classic in New Orleans.

UCLA's contest against Kentucky on Saturday, Dec. 17, will take place three days after the Bruins play a non-conference game at Maryland (College Park, Md.) on Wednesday, Dec. 14. The Bruins announced a home-and-home series with Maryland in June of 2022.

UCLA last played at Madison Square Garden in New York City during the 2013-14 season, competing against Duke in the Carquest Auto Parts Classic (Dec. 19, 2013). UCLA lost that matchup, 80-63, and has gone 14-12 in program history in games played at Madison Square Garden.

This will mark the first time that Madison Square Garden will host the CBS Sports Classic, which was introduced during the 2014-15 season. Throughout the eight-year history of the event, venue hosts have included the United Center in Chicago (2014, 2018), Barclays Center in Brooklyn (2015), T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (2016, 2019, 2021), Smoothie King Center in New Orleans (2017) and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland (2020).

The CBS Sports Classic, featuring UCLA, Kentucky, North Carolina and Ohio State, has been officially extended through 2026. This quartet of teams has won a combined 26 national championships, with UCLA (11), Kentucky (8) and North Carolina (6) ranking first, second and third, respectively, in NCAA history.
