Bruins Rank 13th in National Poll, Second in Pac-12 Coaches Poll

The UCLA women's soccer team will begin the season ranked No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll and No. 2 in the Pac-12 preseason coaches poll.
 
UCLA is the top-ranked Pac-12 team in the national poll, checking in at No. 13 ahead of No. 15 USC, No. 20 Washington State and No. 21 Stanford. In the Pac-12 coaches poll, UCLA was edged out of the top spot by Stanford, who recorded 116 points and six first-place votes to the Bruins' 112 points and four first-place votes.
 
The Bruins captured their second consecutive Pac-12 title in 2021, going unbeaten with an 8-0-3 conference record. Eight starters from last year's 16-1-3 squad return, including 2020 All-American goalkeeper Lauren Brzykcy (0.55 goals against average and nine shutouts in 2021), 2020 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Reilyn Turner (10 goals, 21 points in 2021), and Mexican National Team member Maricarmen Reyes (four goals, 10 points). Additionally, the Bruins have four underclassmen competing in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup - U.S. players Lilly Reale and Neeku Purcell and Mexico players America Frias and Bridgette Marin-Valencia.
 
The Bruins are in action on Saturday, Aug. 13 with an exhibition contest against Fresno State at 5pm at Wallis Annenberg Stadium. Admission is free. The 2022 season officially begins on Saturday, Aug. 13 when UCLA hosts Iowa at 7pm in the season opener. The Bruins have a challenging non-conference schedule, highlighted by road games against 2020 NCAA champion and preseason No. 5 Santa Clara on Aug. 28, second-ranked Duke on Sept. 1, and 21-time NCAA champion and 10th-ranked North Carolina on Sept. 4.
