Charlie Berridge (70-65-67-68 – 270, -14) broke the New York State Men’s Amateur record for the lowest total score with a 14-under performance.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.Y. – California rising sophomore Charlie Berridge shot four rounds under par to win medalist honors in record-setting fashion at the 99th New York State Men's Amateur Championship.

Berridge (70-65-67-68 – 270, -14) broke the New York State Men's Amateur record for the lowest total score with a 14-under performance and bested the field by three strokes. He was the only player in the field to post four rounds under par.

The Scarsdale, New York native entered the final 36 holes at Onondaga Golf and Country Club on Thursday at 7-under, tied with Nic Whittaker. The Golden Bear pulled one stroke ahead with seven birdies in the third round on Thursday morning and later tallied four birdies on the back nine of round four to pull away from the field.

Berridge's 14-under 270 broke the to-par record that stood for ten years after Dominic Bozzelli's mark in 2012 at Elmira.
