USC’s Brianna Navarrosa Reaches U.S. Women’s Amateur Quarterfinals

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – USC junior Brianna Navarrosa has advanced to the 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur quarterfinals after defeating two opponents during the double-session day at Chambers Bay on Thursday, Aug. 11. 
 
Tomorrow, Navarrosa will appear in the quarterfinals, teeing off at 2:40 p.m. PT against Monet Chun. Coverage will be available on the Golf Channel from 4-7 p.m. PT with live scoring available at USGA.org. 
 
Navarrosa opened the morning with a 2&1 victory over 2021 NCAA Individual Champion Rachel Heck to advance to the Round of 16.
 
A few hours later, the junior would defeat Kelsey Bennett (21 holes) to secure a spot in tomorrow's quarterfinals. Navarrosa won 10 holes during the double-session day, with 38 total holes played.
 
Trojan sophomore Amari Avery saw her time at the U.S. Women's Amateur draw to a close this evening losing 2down in the Round of 16. Avery was tied for the majority of the match, but ultimately fell just short of the quarterfinals. 
 
During the Round of 32, Avery made a statement with a 6&5 victory over Megan Yang to advance to the Round of 16.
