Cougar Football Fall Camp | Day 9, Scrimmage

PULLMAN, Wash. (August 13, 2022) – Washington State Football continued fall camp with a scrimmage at Gesa Field Saturday.

Ward and the first-team offense started the day with a 35-yard touchdown to De'Zhaun Stribling and later saw Xavier Ward connect with Anderson Grover on a four-yard touchdown throw before freshman running back Jaylen Jenkins scored on a 35-yard run. Xavier Ward capped the scoring with a seven-yard touchdown strike to Drake Owen. Kicker Dean Janikowski was impressive, hitting all three of his attempts from 47 yards, 38 yards and 52 yards, respectively.
 
The defense matched the offense throughout the day, tallying eight sacks and a pair of interceptions. EDGE Lawrence Falatea tallied three sacks, defensive lineman Ty Garay-Harris recorded 2.5, defensive lineman Malani added two and EDGE Cole Scott and Garay-Harris split one sack. WSU saw freshman linebacker Hudson Cedarland corral a deflected pass for the first interception and linebacker Joshua Erling capped the day by grabbing a tipped pass at the line of scrimmage and was joined by the entire defense as he raced 60 yards for the score.
 
WSU will have Sunday off and will practice Monday morning.
