Ostendorp Named AP Preseason Second-Team All-American
TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona Football punter Kyle Ostendorp today has been named Associated Press Preseason Second Team All-American. The AP preseason All-America team presented by Regions Bank was selected by a panel of Top 25 poll voters and released Monday.
Ostendorp reels in another preseason honor after being named PFN First Team, Pac-12 First-Team, Ray Guy Watch List, and preseason Sporting News Second-Team All-American. He is one of five Pac-12 student-athletes to gain recognition on the AP Preseason All-American teams. These preseason recognitions follow last season's honors of 2021 All-Pac-12 First Team and 2021 AP All-Pac-12 First Team.
He was fourth in the nation in average punt distance (49.2), leading the Pac-12 in that category during the 2021 season. Ostendorp kicked a long of 71 yards against San Diego State on Sept. 11 and punted for 2,852 total yards on his way to 2021 All-Pac-12 First-Team recognition. He has five games where he averaged more than 50 yards per punt, including the Washington game where he punted the ball five times for an average of 56.2 yards per kick.
Arizona opens the 2022 season on Sept. 3 at San Diego State with kickoff set for 12:30 p.m. on CBS. The Wildcats open Arizona Stadium on Sept. 10 against Mississippi State at 8 p.m. on FS1.
