CORVALLIS – The No. 5 Oregon State men's soccer team battled Utah Valley to a 0-0 draw Monday evening at Paul Lorenz Field in Corvallis.

The Beavers out-shot the Wolverines 12-9 in the contest. Luis Castillo held a clean sheet in goal, making five saves including a diving stop in the 57th minute.

Mouhameth Thiam had an early chance, off a nice piece of build-up play by the Beavers. Javier Armas followed that up shortly after with a shot just over the bar.

Ellis Spikner forced a save in the 35th minute, and Adrian Molina-Diaz headed one just over the bar as the first half clock expired. The teams headed to the intermission scoreless.

Gael Gibert took aim from distance in the 54th, forcing a save on the Beavers' first shot of the second half.

The Beavers had back-to-back corner kicks in the 79th minute, culminating in a pair of scoring chances, but could not find a breakthrough. Molina-Diaz hammered one off the post minutes later.

Oregon State continued to press forward in the closing minutes, but the match ended scoreless. OSU tallied 10 corner kicks in the contest, compared to three for Utah Valley.

The Beavers will return to action on Friday when Seton Hall visits Paul Lorenz Field.
