Cross Country Opens 2022 Season at George Kyte Invitational

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Cross Country team is set to start the 2022 season with the George Kyte Invitational hosted by NAU on Saturday, Sept. 3 in Flagstaff.
The competition is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. MST with the men's 4.5-mile run, which will be followed by the women's 2.5-mile run at 2:30 p.m. MST at Buffalo Park. Live results for both events can be found here
"The team is excited to kick off the season at George Kyte," said head cross country coach Bernard Lagat. "Everyone has trained well and is ready to race together as a team."
Arizona will also have many athletes making their cross-country debut on Saturday. Lagat said, "This weekend we will have 12 athletes competing for cross country for the Wildcats for the first time!" 11 of the 12 are freshman newcomers making their debut: Mia Chavez, Beatrice Honebrink, Sailor Hutton, Kara Mickelson, Brennan Foody, Noah Jodon, Parker Lehmann, Cooper Quigley, Ian Sanchez Lopez, and Iker Sanchez Lopez.
