USC Women's Soccer Takes Down No. 6 TCU, 3-0

LOS ANGELES – Simone Jackson struck early and Croix Bethune posted a brace as the USC women's soccer team picked up a convincing 3-0 win over No. 6 TCU on Thursday in their home opener.
 
The Trojans move to 2-1 with the victory, while TCU suffers its first defeat of the season, falling to 3-1-1. The Horned Frogs had allowed just one goal all season coming into Thursday's game, and had beaten their last two opponents by a combined score of 12-0.
 
Jackson got USC on the board early, playing a give and go game with Bethune and firing home a shot from the top of the penalty area in the 4th minute. Bethune scored her first of the day off a free kick from just outside the area in the 45th minute. Her second of the day came in the 79th minute when she got a feed from Angeles Escobar and beat the keeper to make it 3-0.
 
Anna Smith picked up her second consecutive shutout, making four saves in the contest.
 
GOALS
4' – USC: Simone Jackson (assisted by Croix Bethune) – Jackson played a ball to Bethune and Bethune knocked it back to Jackson at the top of the area, where she fired home a shot inside the right post.
 
45' – USC: Croix Bethune (unassisted) – The Trojans won a free kick from just outside the top of the area on the right side, and Bethune curved a ball around the wall, off the keeper and inside the left post.
 
79' – USC: Croix Bethune (assisted by Angeles Escobar) – Escobar played the ball ahead to Bethune, who beat a defender with a touch to her left and fired one inside the near left post.
