Cats Take Down Wake Forest in Four Sets
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Arizona won its fourth match of the season, 3-1, against Wake Forest. Jaelyn Hodge led the way for the Cats on offense with a season-best 23 kills while hitting .315 and Zyonna Fellows held down the defense with 10blocks. Emery Herman recorded her first double-double of the season with 38 assists and 18 digs.
Arizona won the first set, 25-20, after taking an early lead that Wake Forest couldn't catch. Hodge had eight kills and hit .312 in Set 1. Fellows picked up four block assists in the set. Ana Heath and Puk Stubbe served on ace each to push Arizona past Wake Forest.
The Cats went up 2-0 on Wake Forest after winning the second set, 25-22. Despite both teams recording only nine kills in the set, Arizona capitalized on errors from the Demon Deacons to take the two-set lead in the match.
Wake Forest took the third set, 25-17. The Demon Deacons out-hit and out-blocked Arizona to force a fourth set.
Hodge once again led the way with six kills to push Arizona to the fourth-set 25-22 victory. The Cats had five blocks in the set and Fellows was a part of each one. Emery Herman served an ace in the fourth set to help secure the match win.
