Beavers Complete Comeback, Drop Fresno State

Sep 10, 2022

FRESNO, Calif. – Jack Colletto's two-yard touchdown run as time expired sealed a comeback win on the road for Oregon State as they dropped Fresno State by a 35-32 score on Saturday night.

Deshaun Fenwick's 102 yards on 19 carries – a career best - led the Beaver rushing attack while Luke Musgrave's 80 yards from five catches led the squad in receptions. Chance Nolan finished 14-of-27 for 219 yards and a touchdown toss.

Kitan Oladapo's career night led the OSU defense with his 15 stops. His previous best was 10 set last season against Oregon.

The Beavers (2-0) took a slim 14-13 lead into the break following touchdown runs from Colletto and Silas Bolden. Colletto punched the ball into the endzone from just two yards out while Bolden broke loose on an end around for a 36-yard dash.

Fresno State (1-1) took their first two second half drives for a combined 10 points to take their first lead of the contest, flipping a one-point deficit to a nine-point lead at 23-14. A four-yard touchdown run by Fenwick and the ensuing PAT trimmed the Beavers' deficit to 23-21 after a five-play drive that covered 77 yards.

After the hosts alternated making and missing field goal tries to open the fourth quarter, the Beavers drove 66 yards to take a late lead when Tre'Shaun Harrison found his way into the end zone on a 17-yard toss from Nolan. In order to go up by three, Nolan made the two-yard connection to Silas Bolden to convert the two-point try with just 1:50 left in the game. Fresno State promptly answered with a touchdown of their own but missed the PAT – reclaiming the lead at 32-29 with just :40 to play.

A seven play, 73-yard drive by the Beavers sealed the win and the 2-0 start to the season.

For the first time in program history, the Beavers won in Fresno's Children's Valley Stadium.

Oregon State will be back in action next Saturday as they will host Montana State from Portland. Kickoff from Providence Park is set for 5 p.m.
