Fall Season Begins Monday For Reigning Pac-12 Champs

Sep 11, 2022

LAKE ELMO, Minn. - Coming off the greatest season in program history, the Oregon women's golf team will officially kick off 2022-23 on Monday at the Annika Intercollegiate at Royal Golf Club in Minnesota.

Ranked No. 3 in the preseason WGCA poll and No. 2 by Golfweek, the Ducks return three players from their 2021-22 lineup that won the program's first-ever Pac-12 championship and finished as the NCAA national runners-up. Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu leads the way in her third season after claiming the Pac-12 individual championship last season, while also earning second-team all-America status. Seniors Briana Chacon and Ching-Tzu Chen are both back as well, with each earning all-Pac-12 honors in 2022 and Chacon receiving all-America recognition for the second year in a row.

The Ducks also return Brittany Shin and Baylee Hammericksen from last season's roster, and head coach Derek Radley brought in a trio of talented newcomers to round out the squad. Minori Nagano joins Oregon after winning back-to-back junior college national championships, and Ashleigh Park came to Eugene from the University of Texas after competing on the NCAA Championships stage for the Longhorns. Anika Varma is the lone freshman on this season's squad, making the jump to the collegiate ranks after an impressive career for Granite Bay High School.

Oregon will be competing for the first time in program history at the Annika Intercollegiate, a tournament that features the nation's top 12 ranked teams from the previous fall season.
